Digital Naka

Privacy Policy

Effective 22 June 2026 · Version 1.0.0

Introduction

Digital Naka ("Digital Naka", "we", "us", or "our") is operated by Digital Naka. Digital Naka is a digital platform that connects construction-workforce participants across India — customers, labourers, mukadams (foremen), contractors, and builders — for daily-wage hiring.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the Digital Naka mobile application and our backend services, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. By using Digital Naka you agree to the practices described here.

This policy is effective from 22 June 2026.

Who This Policy Covers (User Roles)

Digital Naka serves five roles: customer, labour, mukadam, contractor, and builder. The information we collect depends on your role. For example, contractors and builders may provide company and GST details, labourers may register individually or as a pair (couple) and provide partner details, and mukadams may provide a business name. We collect only the data relevant to your role and your use of the service.

Information We Collect

Depending on your role and how you use Digital Naka, we may collect:

Account and contact information: your mobile phone number (used to sign in), full name, and email address (optional).

Profile and role information: your address, city and pincode; for labourers, registration type, partner name and partner phone, skills, and expected daily wage; for mukadams, business name; for contractors and builders, company name and GST number.

Identity verification (KYC) documents: images of your Aadhaar, PAN, or GST documents and the corresponding document numbers, where verification is required for your role.

Photos: a profile photo you choose to upload, and images you attach to marketplace listings or dispute submissions.

Location information: the pincode and, where provided, approximate or precise coordinates of a job or your availability area, used for matching; and attendance check-in location where applicable.

Service activity: requirements you post, bookings, acceptances, attendance records, ratings, wallet and wage-ledger entries, and payment-order information.

Messages: content of in-app chat messages you exchange with other participants.

We do not collect or store your card, bank, or UPI credentials in the app; payment instrument details are handled directly by our payment processor (see "Payments").

How We Collect Information

We collect information that you provide directly — during onboarding, when completing your profile, when submitting KYC documents, and when posting requirements or messages. With your permission, we access your device camera and photo library to let you capture or choose a profile photo and KYC document images. We also generate information as you use the service, such as booking history, attendance, ratings, and ledger entries.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: create and secure your account and authenticate you via one-time password (OTP); match labour supply with posted requirements; manage the booking lifecycle (acceptance, selection, confirmation, no-show, cancellation, and refunds); verify your identity (KYC) where required; process payments, wallet top-ups, wages, and refunds; send you notifications relevant to your activity; resolve disputes; and operate, maintain, and improve the service. We process this data to provide the service you request and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

KYC and Identity Verification

If your role requires identity verification, we collect images of your Aadhaar, PAN, or GST documents and the related document numbers. These are sensitive identity documents and are treated accordingly. KYC documents are stored privately, are never made publicly accessible, and are retrieved only through short-lived, expiring secure links. We use this information solely to verify your identity and eligibility on the platform and to comply with applicable law. Your verification status is determined by our review and is shown to you within the app.

Location Data

We use location information primarily at the pincode (approximate) level to match requirements with available labour and to estimate distance between parties. Where you provide, or your role requires, more precise coordinates — for example, attendance check-in — we use them only for that specific purpose. Digital Naka does not track your location continuously and does not collect location in the background. You can control location-related permissions through your device settings.

Payments

Payments on Digital Naka are processed by our payment service provider, Razorpay. When you make a booking advance or settle a balance, the app creates a payment order and the actual transaction is completed securely by the payment provider. We do not collect or store your card, bank account, or UPI credentials. We retain transaction records, wallet balances, and wage-ledger entries to operate the service; the wage ledger is maintained as an append-only record.

Notifications and Device Identifiers

With your consent, we use push notifications to alert you about acceptance windows, bookings, payments, and other activity. To deliver these, we may register a device push token with Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service and associate it with your account. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.

How We Share and Disclose Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to operate the service:

With other participants in a transaction: when a booking is made, relevant details such as name, contact number, and location may be shared between the connected parties to enable the engagement.

With service providers acting on our behalf: Razorpay (payment processing), MSG91 (OTP/SMS delivery), Google Firebase (push notifications), and our hosting and infrastructure providers. These providers may process your data only to perform services for us.

For legal reasons: where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or Digital Naka.

Third-Party Services

Digital Naka relies on third-party providers that process certain data as described above, including Razorpay, MSG91, and Google Firebase. Your use of features powered by these providers may also be subject to their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Data Storage and Security

We protect your information using appropriate technical and organizational measures. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage and are never kept in insecure locations. KYC documents are stored in private storage and accessed only through short-lived, expiring secure links. We restrict access to personal data to authorized personnel and systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data on an ongoing basis.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Transaction and wage-ledger records are retained for the periods required by accounting, tax, and other legal obligations, and the ledger is maintained as an append-only record. KYC documents are retained for as long as required for verification and regulatory compliance. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymize it. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below, subject to legal retention requirements.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate or incomplete data, to request deletion of your data, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to raise a grievance. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timelines required by law.

Children's Privacy

Digital Naka is a workforce marketplace intended for adults (18 years and older). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules thereunder, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may contact our Grievance Officer for any complaint or concern regarding your personal data or this policy:

Email: grievance@digitalnaka.in

We will acknowledge and address grievances within the timeframes prescribed by applicable law.

International Data Transfers

We primarily store and process personal data on infrastructure located in India. Where any of our service providers process data outside India, we take steps to ensure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection consistent with applicable law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of Digital Naka after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
